As a Houston based company we love to give back to the city that gave us our start. Over the years we have partnered with a variety of organizations to help raise funds and volunteer our time to help the communities that surround us.
Our SCT Community Committee developed Four Pillars which serve as our guiding posts for our primary focus areas in our communities for the foreseeable future. While the Four Pillars could change or be added to in the future, the committee has decided on:
- Food Insecurity (partnering with organizations like the Houston Food Bank to combat hunger)
- Environmental Stewardship (cleaning our water ways, reducing our carbon footprint, trash pickup, etc.)
- Youth and Community Development (programs that support youth development, whether through sports or academics or other, local community giving, etc.)
- Mental and Physical Health (promoting healthy habits and lives, working to fight cancer and diseases, homelessness, etc.)
Organizations We Support
Partnering with the Houston Food Bank to combat hunger
Sadly, around 1 million people in the 18 southeast Texas counties around the greater Houston area are considered food insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to enough nutritious food to fuel a healthy life. To help support this effort, We had close to 100 employees and family members participate at the Houston Foodbank, the nation’s largest food bank. We completed:
- 24 Pallets
- 17,252 lbs of food
- 14,376 meals provided
Community Trash Bash
We participate in the Houston surrounding area annual Trash Bash that cleans up all area waterways. Our group of employees and their family members have a great time in fellowship while beautifying our community.
This year we had 62 total volunteers participate at the Houston surrounding area annual Trash Bash that cleans up all area waterways. Our group was assigned to clean up trash and junk along White Oak bayou. We showed up early and had a great time over the approximately 3 hours of volunteer time. Thanks to the great turnout, an additional $2,700 will be donated to the organization, a fantastic result for our first big community project of hte year!
MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association)
We have been delighted to be a Corporate Sponsor for the Annual MDA Golf Tournament. This amazing organization has been at the forefront of funding research to find a cure for muscular dystrophy. Which causes muscle weakness and degeneration.
Supply Drive School
We recognize that schools develop the foundation for our society as such should be invested in. We partner with our local school district to provide school supplies for families within the district.
Adopt-A-Family
Adopt-A-Family is a Houston based children's charity that allows you to sponsor families and facilitates gifting during the holiday season as well as so much more. Around Thanksgiving they coordinate Thanksgiving Baskets for less fortunate families in our community. They also allow sponsors to provide Christmas dinners and gifts for families. With their help the "South Coast Santa Program'' continues to grow each year.
Youth Sports
We recognize the impact that youth sports and other extra curricular activities provide for the growth and enrichment for children in the community. Which is why we love sponsoring their teams. We currently sponsor and provide equipment to several Little League programs.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center of Houston
Our team volunteers at the quarterly blood drive for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center of Houston. Giving blood is super crucial and fantastic organizations like the Gulf Coast Center support medical facilities to effectively perform life saving care.
